>Hi Julia, interesting question.
I say yes, I see in 'art'. I see what I can make of reality. I see how I can stylize, symbolize and simplify. I look at details and the more details I see the more I love them, and the person, place or thing they belong to.
My mind is always seeing composition, always seeing patterns and textures, always seeing color and tones. Then I start to think about what mark I might make that will explain it. Then again my mark making is an excuse, it's my justification for staring. I have to stare, otherwise how can I draw it, right? It's like a little kid who sees a kitten or a turtle or a flower and just has to touch it, just has to have it. I know I can't have that hair of the women in front of me, or the plaid shirt of the man in front of her. But I can possess it if I draw it.
Being an artist and drawing all the time has created in me an eye that loves to look because I know so much is there to see.

>Do you see in illustration? Curious how all this dedicated drawing affects how you look.
