Your Purpose
As an artist, your obligation is not to produce propaganda that everyone listens to, understands and obeys. That is other people’s jobs. Your job as an artist is to express yourself, whether there is logic, reasoning and greater purpose in the expression or not.
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs and what’s wrong with that?

Marty, Your napkin is my favorite so far, since I’m an over-the-heels bird lover. Thanks for your thoughts on the true purpose of an artist.
Pauline, I am making it into some merchandise, first a coffee mug. Any other merchandise or product you might like to have it on, let me know, ok?
Nothing wrong with love songs. Remember the crooners like Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Frank S. etc. People still play their records and go see Andy in Branson. Having played for hundreds of weddings, I have a music cabinet full of love songs. And speaking of love songs and weddings: at one wedding, the candle lighter started at the low end of the candles, and when trying to light the high, middle candle, caught the sleeve of her dress on fire. For some reason, the bride was already there, and the candle lighter turned fast, catching the bride’s hair on fire. The fire was instantly extinguished. When the soloist started singing, there was much hilarity in the room. He sang, “You Light Up My Life.”
Eyrline, That’s the funniest wedding bloopers story I’ve heard! Thanks!
Eyrline, that must have been really funny to witness. I am glad it got put out fast!
