“There is a mortgage for every castle in the air.” – anonymous
So sayeth the sign saying GO. The sign saying STOP does not sayeth thus, because STOP does not imagine any castles. GO imagines and believes even while being rooted on the earth. It is stationary like STOP. It is in one locale like STOP. But it is always telling those who come upon it at the crossroads to GO, because it knows the mortgage is paid, on earth and in the sky, by driving on.
“There is no such thing as creative hate.” – anonymous
I am actually not sure I believe this. I think many people can be very ingenious when it comes to not liking people or groups. Think of all the convoluted legal and moral arguments that have been used over they decades and centuries to deny the right to vote, religious freedom, and freedom of self to mention just a few. There was great creativity (masking a terrible fear) that led to all that effort.
“The Complaint of the Present Times is the General Complaint of All Times.” – Anonymous
As the election comes closer, don’t forget that the complaints you hear now are the complaints people have had forever. And the promises we hear are the promises we have heard forever. It might be about the economy, it might be about the war, it might be about negative advertising, but whatever it is, it is your responsibility to look past it to the heart of things. In other words, vote for ideas, vote for direction, vote for the candidate, not just his or her campaign promises.
Happy Fourth of July! Don’t eat each other, but you can eat a cow if you want. Or a potato. Or a big bite of jalapeño and have fireworks in your mouth!
“We do not choose the frame, only the painting inside.” – Anonymous
The frame is everything surrounding us from birth to death including the time in which we live. We can’t escape or control many elements of the frame. But we can control to a much greater degree two other things. One is what our painting (our self) looks like, and the other is the museum or gallery we are hanging in.
“Without love at the center of your circle you will have disorder at the circumference of your purposes.” Anonymous
This is a wordy one, but it really is true. I basically think that it is like a loop. You want love to come back to you from the outer reaches of your influence and interaction? Then you better have it at the core of your actions. I mean, love does come without our being worthy at times, but the chances are much better if we put it out there!
I remember that something had happened in the news about some kid getting in trouble at school for having nudity, or sexually harassing someone, and so I thought I would do my little bit of commentary on it by putting the ‘censored’ banner over her breasts. Plus it seemed funnier that way.
I think it is true though, and I think there are many who actually would probably be more joyful with less clothes on, or in their closets. I personally am a closet nudist. Which means I am most often nude in my closet. Where are you most often nude?
